Spring in March is an amazing time in regions south of the Yangtze River. So as to pursue the footsteps of spring, feel the traditional Chinese culture and motivate students’ enthusiasm in the ardent love of nature and motherland, on 22nd March, teachers and students in Grade 9 of Anqing Foreign Language School headed for the Culture Expo Park of five-thousand-year history in Taihu County to carry out the practical spring outing activities.
To start with, at 8 A.M. led by the leading teachers in each class, all students queued up to board the fourteen buses which were already waiting outside school. Then, students set off for their destination in a fine drizzle.
After nearly two hours’ bus ride, all teachers and students arrived at the 5000-year Culture Expo Park smoothly. They stepped forward towards the park in haste and were all fascinated by her picturesque landscape.
Specifically, the peach trees were in full bloom. The sculptures of ladies in Daguan Garden were absolutely lifelike with gracefully slender figure beside the bluestone road. Furthermore, students boarded the Imperial House across the Long Bridge, gazing into the distance and feeling the misty rain as well as the pavilions. Also, at the Fossil Museum, students observed the dinosaur fossils in spirits and tried to understand the life habit of dinosaurs. Afterwards, students exclaimed over the mystery of the dinosaurs, which revealed the harmonious development of man and nature. What’s more, at the Root Carving Museum, students were attracted by the root carving in various shapes and were deeply impressed by Nature’s extremely fine craftsmanship in addition to the exquisite and superb feat of the great masters. In addition, at the Ancient Tea Horse Road, students comprehended the ethnic customs of the Naxi nationality and issued loud shouts of applause towards the exclusive matriarchal society of the Mosuo minority. More noticeably, at the Cultural Park of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, it perfectly reappeared the prosperous urban life of Bian Liang, Dong Jing, capital of the Northern Song Dynasty time.
Last but not the least, at 2.30 P.M. all teachers and students gathered at the gate of the Culture Expo Park and boarded the buses to head back to Anqing Foreign Language School. Students lingered around all the way and shared with each other what they saw, heard and the photographs they took. The buses was overflowed with happy laughter and cheerful voices.
To conclude, this spring outing enabled students to feel the breath of spring at closer range and understand the long history and fabulous traditional culture of the Chinese nation so that students were able to strengthen their friendship. Above all, the incredible experience left all teachers and students unforgettable memories.
